4th International Technical Textiles Congress will be Held Together with HIGHTEX 2010.

4th International Technical Textiles Congress, organized by D.E.U. Department of Textile Engineering, will be held parallel with HIGHTEX 2010 on 16-18 May 2010 at Tuyap Fair, Convention and Congress Center.

Technical textiles is a fast growing and promising area of textiles and it is anticipated that this area will have a significant part in textile industry in the near future.

Authorities acknowledge that conventional textiles have reached a plateau and technical textiles can be a key area for market reach especially when taking into consideration that Turkish textile sector is mainly based on export.

Current improvements in material science and production processes resulted in use of technical textiles in a vast number of engineering areas and thus in a gradual increase in volume of supply and demand.

Generally technical textiles may be defined as; “textile materials and goods produced for having functional properties and technical performance rather than for aesthetic and decorative properties”.

Technical textiles are used in many daily applications including cables in our homes, insulation materials, upholstery, cords in tires, filtration processes, building industry, automotive industry, and medical materials.

Technical textiles may be classified under the following topics: High Performance Fibers, Medical Textiles, Geotextiles, Protective and Military Textiles, Protective Clothing, Filtration Textiles, Transportation Textiles, Textile Composites, Building and Construction Textiles, Functional and Sportive Textiles.

When we check over Turkish textile sector about technical textiles, we see that there are companies producing different technical textiles in cooperation with international companies and there are a number of members of D.E.U. Department of Textile
Engineering who are interested in this area.

In order to constitute real university-industry collaboration, 4th International Technical Textiles Congress, organized by D.E.U. Department of Textile Engineering, will be held parallel with HIGHTEX 2010 Istanbul Technical Textiles and Nonwoven Trade Fair  on 16-18 May 2010 at Tuyap Fair, Convention and Congress Center in Istanbul, Turkey

It is aimed that national and international experts and researchers will meet all other components of the sector including producers, consumers, and investors.
